Room Parent Program
Being a Room Parent at Green Hills is a rewarding experience and an enormous help to our teachers. Room parents are PTA volunteers who assist the teacher and classroom in a variety of functions. As a Room Parent, you'll get to know the students very well, but be advised this important volunteer position requires a firm commitment and many hours throughout the school year. All room parents must be paid current members of PTA and are requested to serve on at least one PTA committee and attend PTA meetings.
We've listed some of the responsibilities of a Room Parent but this is not "all-inclusive." During the the course of the school year, a teacher may make special requests. We would ask that all Room Parents take the time to meet with their assigned teacher and ask what additional help might be needed or requested of you.
Room Parent Responsibilities: All Grades (exceptions noted)
- Class Parties - Room parents are responsible for the planning and execution of all class parties including drinks, activities and refreshments. Traditionally, there are five parties a year: Halloween, Holiday, Valentine's Day, Spring Holiday, and End-of-Year.
- Class Trips - Assist teachers and students as needed.
- Class Trip T-shirt Distribution (Grades K-2) - Includes collecting, washing and returning T-shirts to teacher after each class trip.
- Tricky Tray - Collecting items / money for class tray. This is the PTA's largest fundraiser and your help is needed to make this event a success!
- PTA Functions - Assist with PTA activities and communication as needed.
- Yearbook Pictures - Room parents should take pictures through the year at class parties and field trips. A selection of pictures from the year should be delivered to the yearbook staff for their use in designing the yearbook.
Room Parent Responsibilities for Specific Grades
In addition to the above responsibilities, the following are grade specific requirements of a room parent:

PTA Membership Drive
Throughout the entire school year, we encourage as many parents of Green Hills students as possible to join the PTA.
The Green Township PTA expects to receive the "Early Bird" award this year for achieving at least 85% of the previous year's membership by October 25.
The PTA also hopes to earn the Focus On Fathers Award this year. This award is given to the PTA if 25% of our membership is male -- and we currently are at 23%.
The Membership Chair for 2006-07 is Kate Mull. For more information on PTA members, please email Kate at jkmull@earthlink.net.

- The Green Hills Student Directory is a phone book for both parents and students. In addition to the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of Green Hills students, their parents' names are included for your convenience.
- At the beginning of every school year, each family must fill out a new request form to have their phone, address and email information published in that year's edition of the Green Hills Student Directory. Click here for a copy of this year's Directory Listing Form.
- Listings are collected in September and copies of the Student Directory are distributed in early October.
To request an additional copy (.50 each) of the Student Directory please contact Carol Yost.
